Rooted Facilitator Tips
In General:
- Love people where they are at.
- Share from your own life and be transparent.
- Be open to learn from the group.
- Be honest; it’s OK to not know all the answers.
- Create space for people to learn through sharing, not correcting.
- Ask great questions and utilize active listening.
- Silence is ok and will allow for God to do the work.
During Discussion:
- Don’t rescue or jump in.
- Be Attentive with your eyes.
- Watch for body language.
- Don’t be afraid of silence.
- Validate answers and correct with individual outside of the group.
- Promote confidentiality and refer to the signed agreement.
- Always look for greater depth by asking a follow up question such as:
Leader: Tom, what do you think?
Tom: I don’t believe in God.
Leader: Can you tell me more about that?
Keep the END in mind:
- You are training future leaders of the Church. Our hope is that they will lead a future group.
- Use language like “…as a Facilitator after Rooted…”
- Invite them into the leadership process by week 6 or 7.
