Once a person attends Journey, our hope is that they would identify themselves as a new guest through Connections. Their stop in Connections would give us the opportunity to direct them to our NEXT event, which helps them learn about the various ways to connect here at Journey.
Based on where a person is in their relationship with Christ, we would help them connect in either Starting Point (if they are a seeker or starter), or Rooted (if they are a returner or have some foundation of a relationship with Christ).
From each of these experiences, we can best lead a person into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ through serving, generosity, long-term community, to making a decision for Christ and being baptized, and ultimately to full engagement here at Journey.
Previously, we have been directing people into long-term community groups without first having helped them fully understand and develop healthy rhythms that help them grow in their relationship with Christ. We have a responsibility with our mission to lead people into a GROWING relationship with Christ. Rooted is instrumental in that mission because it helps us have a greater level of confidence that the practices that contribute to a growing relationship with Jesus Christ are present.
Making Rooted a primary door through which people engage and connect here at Journey elevates and prioritizes the importance of the seven rhythms, making them foundational practices for everything they would engage in going forward.
