Starting Point is a safe place for people to begin asking the questions about God, life, and matters of faith. This environment is absolutely crucial to our mission of inviting and leading people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. Starting Point is designed to meet people right where they are, to be a conversational environment where people can explore faith and experience community.
In order for Starting Point to be a conversation, leaders prioritize building relationships over having all the answers. Rather than the traditional teacher and student format of learning, group members come alongside the leaders through a facilitated discussion. It is a safe place to explore their questions, doubts, and thoughts about faith because the conversation invites them to share their past experiences, current beliefs, and future ideals. In this process of being known in a group setting, they recognize they’re not alone and get a taste of what it’s like to experience community with other people on a similar journey.
To help clarify who Starting Point is ideal for, we use three different descriptions:
- New to a relationship with Jesus Christ and looking to build a solid foundation for their faith
- Returning to a church background and have been away for a while
- Curious about God, Jesus, the Bible, or Christianity, but do not identify as a Christian
Starting Point is a place where no question is off-limits, conversation is encouraged, and there are opportunities to discuss your questions with others who are on the same journey.
Thank you for your partnership in making this Starting Point environment possible!
